How to find meaning in a meaningless world (Alan Watts)

  1. 31 minutes in is where he talks about buying and selling . But all his recorded works are incredibly insightful

Alan Watts' talks are amazing and deeply comforting at the time of hardship or stress, though, it does concern somewhat that a person who sounds like someone who has found all the answers died of "suicide by alcohol".

  3. I was shocked when I learned that's how he ended. I'm not a big fan or anything of this guy but Jordon Peterson claims to have all the answers and be some sort of tough guy, and turns out hes addicted to benzos and now has covid https://www.theblaze.com/news/jordan-peterson-covid-19

Peterson admitted, in TV interviews, many years before he became famous that he used medication for help with his depression.

He often said if your depression is down to your life situation then medication wont help you much. You need to sort out your life instead.

But if your depression needs medication (for chemical imbalances in your brain) then sorting out your life probably wont fix it, you could still need the medication

Watts also took LSD and who knows what else. Thats how these Gurus get some of their deep spiritual insights.

That podcast below explains quite a lot, it's sorta impossible to get away from it, after the usage of 2 weeks :
(his wife is dying from cancer, his daughter is getting joints replaced and hes being bombarded by the media all the time)

So his meaning of life was drinking spirits? Not mocking him, the meaning can be complete different for everyone. As long as he was happy...

I doubt he was happy drinking himself to death.

Very few men are blessed with having no demons.

Addictions like alcohol maybe genetic, so become a constant battle.

Other demons might be down to childhood traumas, being abused, growing up in poverty. It might be possible to fix those with therapy. But how do fix the genetic ones?

So I always try separating the message from the messenger. I don’t know if I am right of course, but it’s much easier to understand and teach/preach than to actually do it. Same with trading. I like Elkhart Tolle books. Trying to make my teenager read it, but it’s not currently on ticktock.

Yeah some trading coaches who mainly coach and maybe trade a bit can be good but it is hard for a newb to tell if they are any good or just charlatans.

But i think it is even better to find and follow a trading guru who is also a very profitable trader.

Not sure how that applies to spiritual teaching. How are you supposed to judge if a spiritual guru is any good? They all talk a good game..
