How to disable M1-chip Macbook from auto-powering on?

I find it extremely stupid to auto-power the laptop on whenever you open the lid.
It seems that sudo nvram AutoBoot=%00 does not work anymore on M1 macbooks.

 

Counter-question...Why would you open the lid of the Macbook if you did not want to turn it on? I am guessing that was the thinking of the designers of the thing.
