How to analyze my portfolio over time?

  1. Most apps that sync with your brokerage are meant for buy and hold investors, not traders (ex. Morningstar, SigFig, etc).

    Is there software specifically made for active traders?

    For example;
    I don't care what my Beta is RIGHT NOW - as my current holdings will be gone by the end of day anyway - but I would like to know what my Beta is OVER TIME.

  2. Check out FundSeeder. They give you some decent performance stats, but still have a ways to go IMO.

  3. Hmm not bad! I entered just this month's performance to test it out and although pretty basic, it does a decent job at making pretty charts.

    AND, it indeed gives me the sharpe ratio for the month (7.41). Pretty Cool.

  4. yeah, it's a good start. I just wish they would show things like avg. number of positions, pct. turnover of account, commissions paid, interest paid, dividends received/paid, and perf. vs. benchmark over time. Hopefully, these are on the to-do list..

  5. Because my broker gives me a lot of that info, I'm not sure I need some of those.

    BUT, perfromance vs benchmark would be amazing as that's something my partners are always looking for (plotted on a nice pretty graph as opposed to just numbers)

  6. The goal of their web site is to identify trading skill, but without stats like turnover and costs, they're not going to succeed. Just my two cents.
