Curious to know the demographic of this site and traders in general. Please vote... you can answer publicly but dont have to if you dont want to. I put the generally accepted life stages to correspond with age just for fun. If some want to share the life stages of a trader that would be good to read.
41.. but wait... I think family and wealth accumulation don't go that well together. I would put the wealth accumulation in the 25-34 bracket.
Prime earning years for traders ended around 2010. The bots leave scraps now. Traders in their 20's-30's during the 90's and 00's will never come close to those numbers again. Its structurally impossible thanks to HFTheft
Those were the days. Wild west baby. It's just not possible to duplicate that action in todays market. Maybe get lucky a day or two, but nothing like 99. I was making a grand a day easy, every day, week after week, month after month, and that was with a f'n e-trade account on delayed quotes. LOL. Actually it ruined my trading for life.
There's still money to be made in the market. And there'll always continue to be. That kind of thinking is defeatist and close-minded and old. Everyone was an 'elite trader' back in the mid/late 90's, ...then the reality tidal wave...Hand of God... smacked everyone around, I remember seeing my first silver Porsche 996 Turbo on the road next to me at one point back then...it left my mouth open and salivating, It looked like a shiny, lustery pearl...that could fly into space,. UFO ET Liquid Hot Magma...was boiling under everyone's feet back then...waiting to spew its fury inevitably,
Of course there is still money to be made, but the 6 figure months and 7 figure years are over unless you are a huge gambler and get lucky. It is simply IMPOSSIBLE to get size on now without having to be substantially out of the money first. That didn't happen when there were real market makers on a level playing field. Anyone who has been trading for 10 years or longer knows the market is structurally flawed. There is ZERO liquidity when you need it. It wont be addressed while we continue the relentless algo walk up. But when the market "flash crashes" again and doesn't snap back the world will realize the fraud of HFT.
Haha yup. Good times back then. In '99 I was trading on 1 monitor with satellite feed quotes, satellite CNBC feed, no news services, and only two instinet terminals for a room full of traders. Took me a few months of slow bleeding to figure things out, one month to make back my tuition losses, then made 160k+ from Sept-Dec and 10x that in 2000. The 00's were a fantastic trading decade, especially for news trading. Catch a Bloomberg/Reuters/DJ headline and pile into something then flip it out seconds later for tens of thousands and sometimes more. Unbelievable and impossible in today's market structure. Now you can have the fastest of everything in the world yet you can't sweep a penny level without the algos pulling before you get filled. GREAT JOB SEC YOU WORTHLESS PIECES OF SHIT
