How much is the usual price for locates with the retail trading brokers? Is $0.02-$0.07 per share a normal range?
Could be half the stock price (though maybe with overnight interest) TradeZero supposedly offers locates at their cost, but this guy was charged half the stock price: https://www.elitetrader.com/et/threads/i-was-charged-a-ridiculous-overnight-short-fee.338382/
If a symbol is hard to borrow, and you request a locate from Wedbush Securities, our clearing broker, those locates have no cost. If you can't get the free one, we offer premium locates from Velocity Capital with a tool built into Lightspeed Trader. That cost can vary. Your range might be typical but it can cost more or less. BTW, a locate is just that. It allows you to short a HTB symbol. That is not a borrow for overnight.
Don’t know, just copied some random example from the net to show the price range, while other examples also show $0.01 - $0.02 locate fee, so it’s just generic price range. It can vary for specific stocks at different times.
