Hi everyone, I'm new to trading. I've been having moderate success day trading 1 stock. I make, on average, 1% a day. I've been playing around with a compound calculator and the difference between a daily 1% ROI and, say, 5% ROI, is huge. At 1% a day per stock, that would mean I'd have to trade 5 stocks. How many stocks do you typically trade each day? Have you ever traded 5 stocks a day? Thanks
No, I literally meant 17 share on average. I'm not "trading" like you guys are, flipping multiple stocks (or other securities) in a day (round trip). On big pullbacks I tend to buy a little more, on huge upswings I tend to sell off a little, sometimes I do more than a little if I can sense the mood of the market - it can often tell you whether it wants to go up or down (but hard hitting news can always upset that). But almost never round-trip trades. So 17 shares per day on average is just a guesstimate. Maybe a little low, but not by much.
It is fine to trade just one stock per day, but it would probably be better to trade a stock that has a larger profit than one percent. It is also alright to keep trading the same stock over and over, while it is performing well. How are you finding your stocks to trade? Are you using a screener?
When I dumped all my stocks that I had bought in 2009, swore I will never buy stocks again. Just doing very long term futures and credit spreads on stocks and futures. More bang for the buck.
I trade anywhere from 1-4 stocks on average. Today was one- MOS Over trading is a killer. Wake up early, do your research and come up with a game plan. MOS was not, i just saw a great set up which happens.
%% Stocks per day?? NOT any more; stuff like XLE, SPY,spxs, SSO spxu, UDOW , some sqqq tqqq....... But 3 x leverage, can lose 3 times as fast also. More leverage loses even faster. MAY want to shoot for more than 1% sometimes, because so few make 1% per week /52% per year /LOL Since you like small samples/made more than 1% on DDM to day[entered earlier in week swing]; but even DDM or udow , spxl does not average gross or net 5% per week/LOL Good question...................................................................
