How many monitors would you recommend for currency trading? I know this is a hardware question, but specifically for currency trading purposes?

  2. Wrong question. The right question would be, "Is there a way to trade currencies without ever looking at a monitor"?

  3. One or 35 could both be a correct answer to this question.

    6. Anything less than 6 and you will be unprofitable. The more monitors, the more profitable. No actual edge is needed, just more monitors and try to trade off of 2 tick charts. :D

  5. all I use is one laptop with cnbc or Bloomberg on tv in the background

at the top of my screen I have
    dx
    gc
    cl
    zn
    es

    in that order

at the bottom on my screen I have eur.chf

and everything in between that I currently have a position on

anytime I want I can click on the daily 6 mo, hourly 1 week, one day 15 minute, or two minute 2 hour chart, but I just use them to see what happened, not to predict what is going to happen

    bid/ask tells the whole story

not sure what I would do with another screen, a lot of time I just use the one screen I have to check out the bullshit on ET, or google recipes for whatever I'm thinking about making for dinner

well, gotta go, time to switch over to CNBCW European Closing, they care a lot more about forex over there than your typical USA stock gambler

if you don't get it, I would suggest spending your money on DTV rather than another screen

35 seems like a lot of monitors, lol.

Thanks for the response. This is the kind of question I had, what do you watch and how many screens does it take to watch it. Sounds like you don't use very many. :)

Anyone running a lot of screens? I see pictures on google if you search "trading monitor setup" that show as many as 15 or so screens, do poeple use that many? I mean, for currencies?

  9. Excellent question, let's see here...

There are 28 major currency pairs you can trade. You also need 35 different indicators to time the market, so you will need 980 monitors.

Yep, that's it, 980 monitors and you are good to go.

But wait, hold on, you still need an extra monitor to watch EliteTrader posts.

So 981 monitors IS the correct answer, sorry for the mix up.

PS: If this still does not work, you can still sell those 981 monitors on Ebay, hopefully for a nice profit, I know a guy who knows a guy in Cincinatti... oh, never mind.

hehehe. I think 14 should be enough, my setup should be up and going in a week or so.
