Attorney general elevates Hunter Biden prosecutor to special counsel (msn.com)

Attorney General Merrick Garland has appointed Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss as a special counsel in his investigation of President Joe Biden's son Hunter Biden, Garland announced on Friday.

The move came as a plea deal struck between Hunter Biden and federal prosecutors fell apart last month and the case appeared headed for trial. In the interim, Hunter Biden entered a not-guilty plea.

Weiss, who was previously appointed by former President Donald Trump, asked Garland to be appointed special counsel on Tuesday and Garland said he concluded it was in the public interest after considering the request.

Trump really did not pick Weiss. Trump followed custom
Trump agreed to nominate the person selected for him by the two Democrats senators of Delaware

Weiss’ nomination needs the confirmation of the U.S. Senate. Delaware’s senators, Democrats Tom Carper and Chris Coons, said Friday that they recommended Weiss to the White House for the job. Carper says he hopes the Senate will “swiftly confirm” Weiss.

Selective memory of GOP. Jeff Session opened the probe and Bill Barr appointed Weiss to the case.

State AG nomination is by senators and all AGs shall resigne after the new president comes in. Carper and Coons have nothing to do about this. The statement was to nominate Weiss to be Delaware AG, not to Hunter's case.

Really? I'll let the next Mass AG that appears on my ballot know that they cannot be there, they are not voted in by the people.

I will let Mike Easley know that there is no such thing as the “U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of North Carolina”. And let him know his job does not exist and is a fantasy — I am sure that he will get a chuckle over this along of the rest of his fellow U.S. District Attorneys across the country.
