How is the below Opt on Fut get closed ?

  1. Hi guys,

Could you please let me know about the following scenarios and how the opts go in this:

    - Opts on Futs for E-mini SP500 :- If we are long on calls and they are ITM, do they get automatically exercised on closing day of the contract if we do not sell it? Or is this action dependent on the brpker ?

    - expanding on the above (if the answer is that they are automatically exercised) - then what will be close state of the process ? For example if ES = 3000 and Call is for 2900 strike, then will the exercise result in profit 100*50 (from call exercise) plus an open position of long ES at 3000 or will it result in simply close the Opt and open position of long ES at 2900 (which would in profit of 100*50) ?

    - If on close call is OTM at close (example ES at 2800) - then after hours - ES goes to 3000 and then on open is at 2800 again, what is the effect on the long call ?

    - And regarding after market hours - who is allowed trade during that ?

    Thank you

  2. As far as I know, anyone can trade after hours. Rest, you can check with your broker.
