Just wondering about people's experiences turning from Part-time Trading to Full-time Trading. Obviously I'm talking about Retail full timers.

Does it quickly become as boring as Death?

Does the pressure take it's toll?

Did it hurt your Sex life?

    Etc etc?

    Cheers.

  2. I've converted from part time to full time trading, and back again, several times.

Being a contract engineer living on the road I could afford to lose, so I did, often!

Once I had a year or two off to study trading and narrow the focus, the results begin to appear.

The biggest threat was the lonliness, and need to belong, which can encourage you to go along with prevailing sentiment.

But the greatest advantage was BURNING THE BRIDGE! (read Think and Grow Rich)

-full time trader now, up on the year thanks to AI stocks

If you have the luxury to quit working, even for a few months, try it. It's awesome!

  3. For the record I'm long NGVC, UTI, CLS & CRWD. You could reverse engineer these and see the common pattern, which is one of the tactics I used during my first year off, studying a Guru I was paying $99 a month to. He did very well and used basic momo and mean reversion systems, but his "training course" was dross. The real magic was what all his winning trades had in common.

*edit- FTAI shook me out during the puke and I was too cowardly to get it back after it put in the recent shelf. Look at it now! But I'm not mad. No sir.

Yes. The excitement is on the journey to a change. Once that change happens everything becomes ordinary.
That's why there are so many day traders, because of the excitement.

Does the pressure take its toll?
It depends on what you do, if you swing trade or do options there is not much pressure, if you do day trading futures your head will turn into a boiler, ready to explode at any minute. I guess it is related to the time frame.
The shorter the time frame the more chances to have a heart attack.

Did it hurt your Sex life?
Yes. Going out to work and socialize with people make you want to interact with them. Your sex drive is related to the way you communicate with people. Loneliness is addictive, the more you are by yourself the more you want to be.

Just my opinion, maybe someone else is thrilled by it.

Very easy, just put in 8 hours a day and you are a full time trader

I know many "full-timers" who are done trading within the first 2 hours. And most of that time is just patiently waiting for a setup. Not at all like some action junkies that a few above posters want you to believe.

Also don't friggin' treat us day traders as the same. We're all different. Even scalpers are completely different. Needless to say, if you don't day trade, just STFU about your opinion about day trading.

I've gotten more tail since i started traded full time oct 20th, 2020th than I ever did in the years combined. it is more lonely, but being around people never rectified that except for when i was in hawaii then there were enough interesting people not interacting under the guise of formal obligations to each other and crap like that. i cant recall the last time i ever sat an alarm to wake me up.
