Since he became the CEO Microsoft really changed its strategy and I liked it, slowly but surely they win their positions back, but recent acquisitions made me frustrated, why did they spend so much money on Linkedin or Minecraft?! It's just crazy. How do you evaluate Nadella's work guys?
Nadella = Windows 10 = mobile crap = another giant flop by M$ Hang him higher, I would say... It's time for Bill Gates to return to the company. Ok, I don't like him either, but things can't get worser with him I think...
That's totally true and the craziest part of the story is that they don't learn on their errors. They did another stupid acquisition.
They have been transitioning away from being a software company for quite some time...Think storage and data mining.
Trade or follow only macro indexes -- so you don't have to worry about individual, unique, company bs.
People associate them with Windows, but actually, their greatest achievements have been Office. Nobody has yet managed to deliver something equally performant and userfriendly. Kudos to the Office team! As an OS vendor, the writing is on the wall. Only option left is to sell users to governments and corporations, their private info, live monitoring, content, remote access, public opinion shaping, you name it. The degree of customer alienation and restrictions tells me there's no product left in the OS, just the users being the product, and there's buy-in from their newfound customers with infinite deep pockets. Which is actually good for Linux and alternatives, that will overtake the market while the race to the bottom is going on all the way. Just keep doubling down, we know where that's headed.
YMMV, but I prefer the Open Source LibreOffice (OpenOffice). Very similar to MS Office. The only valuable product from Microsoft for me _was_ their C++ compiler (Visual Studio C++), and the Windows XP OS, and previously in the 80ies MS-DOS. Nothing else. Yes, what a shame! Microsoft was made big by the hundereds of millions of individual users around the globe. And in the end Microsoft has betrayed all its customers; the classic Judas story has repeated... Yes, that's it.
I use Open Office on all my machines and it's completely free. There is also Google Docs but I prefer Open Office, it's much more robust and mature. I'm not here to vouch for Open Office over MS Office but it's hard to go wrong with free.
Win 10 is maybe good idea for entertainment devices, but the result is extremely bad and it may push more people and businesses to Apple. If after all win 10's trouble businesses start switching to Apple it will be extremely difficult to get them back from there - it is difficult to get a customer back when he/she tasted something better. Minecraft acquisition is good on my opinion - it is #1 game on popularity, and it may bring revenue in advertisement. Linkedin acquisition is just another attempt to jump into social network - waste of resources on my opinion. Lately MSFT is trying to catch up the services offered by other companies. If Nadella continues to play "catch up" game, it could be a bad time for MSFT. It does not look like Nadella has a vision and can create something new. The main difference between Google and MSFT is that Google is looking for people with visions and new ideas and MSFT is looking for cheap labor by moving most of their development to India.
