I live in Boise, Idaho, and I trade the ES. Any ideas of how I can meet others in my city who also day trade?
1) Make sure all of your online profiles (e.g. Elitetrader.com, Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus, TradeStation, NinjaTrader, eSignal or whatever it is you're using) have your city and states listed. In fact, create a profile just for a the purpose of meeting other traders in the Boise area. I saw a trader on Twitter and Stocktwits looking to meet other traders in his hometown of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The guy got about 25 replies from traders that lived in South Dakota and a few were from Sioux Falls. 2) Via the above, be very active in mentioning in your signature line or bottom of your message posts....Boise, Idaho...do such in all your trader profiles and be active in posting a few messages per month at the online locations in the most active areas. Do not use any of these resources to engage in online arguments or debates about anything. 3) If you're full-time active trader...join your local small business club. You can at least get tips on managing your trading like a business for for tax purposes. 4) Join a local "investing club"...most cities have them. Next, there may be a few "traders" within that club. 5) Start your own local "trader club" and put up listings in local newspapers. If that guy can find 25 traders in his area of Sioux Falls South Dakota via just simply using Twitter and Stocktwits...I can't imagine you finding less if you incorporate all the above for Boise, Idaho.
