[Hotkeys] Order size as a percentage of buying power

  1. Hello all, I'm only about a week into using TWS, and I'm finally starting to get it finely-tuned. I'm using hotkeys almost exclusively for order entry, and I'm currently using absolute sizes of 10, 100, and 1000. I'd like to configure the hotkeys so as to use a percentage of my buying power to calculate the number of shares per order, but I'm so far coming up short.

Let's say my buying power is 100k, and I'm looking at a stock that is trading at 27.50. I'd like to setup hotkeys to place orders for, say, 20% of my buying power, so that I can scale in 20% at a time. In this example, something to automatically enter floor((100,000*.2)/27.50) = 727 shares.

I'm not sure if there's currently a way to do this only using TWS, am I missing something that would allow me to? Thanks

FYI-If you were a Lightspeed client, you can do that. This hotkey is to buy, using ARCA, 10% of your available BP targeting the ASk+$0.10.

  3. Thanks for the heads up Robert, maybe I will demo the lightspeed platform.

Meanwhile, I've discovered an inconvenient, but usable, workaround: In settings >> presets >> stocks, you can change the default order size to a dollar amount. So, I can just adjust this daily/weekly as needed. Just tested with a hotkey and it seems to be working.

    Hi,

I was wondering does anyone know if
You can set a hotkey to sell a percent of your position such as 75% 80% etc I believe you can set 50% but I wanted to know if there where higher percents to choose from?
