Hog Hunting

Hi Guys,

I am a trader based close to Austin .TX. A few trader buddies and I are looking to go on a hog hunt.Does anyone know of any good ranches in which to conduct this hunt?

I am also keen on using a Spear (Usually use my Bow ) in which to hunt the said Hog with.

Looking for any suggestions.

Darn...I thought this was another "Phat Girls" thread.

 

I used to watch the Pigman series on the Outdoor channel. He runs an outfitter in west texas I think.

 

There are lots of ranchers who'd sell you a hunting lease just google there are a lot of listings. I've never been hog hunting but from what my friends tell me they are hard to get close to, they are smart animals. You'd have to be damn good to spear or get one with a bow.

As regards the spear, there are several options- including the use of a tree stand?

 

Head on over to Missouri. You don't even need a permit, except during turkey or dear season. They are a major pest there:

"Feral Hog Control

Shoot them on sight and call your county agent

•Feral hogs are dangerous, destructive pests that must be eradicated in Missouri.

•Feral hogs are not native to Missouri and may be killed in any number at any time...."

I have managed to purchase a 8ft cold steel spear from relentless pursuits.

 

Just to let you guys know.We managed to eventually find a ranch with some mega Huge hogs, and between us we managed to actually spear a total of 5 hogs!

Good fun was had by all .
