Historical greeks in platform ToS

  1. Hi, I have a problem with historical data on SPX in ToS. I would ask you, whether your ToS demo account show you a historical greeks or not. Until recently I could see historical Greeks on SPX though 2008, 2009 or 2010, but now not. Now are available historical greeks only cca one year back. Why?

I want to test my strategy on historical data, but it is currently not possible, because I need historical greeks. Do I have any other chance free test my SPX strategy?

    THX. Martin.

I have a real account so not sure if demo is different but I will tell you TOS is kind of flaky with data over the weekends. Also, the farther back you go the more incomplete the data is. I will tell you that I have found the backtrader and on demand lacking when it comes to accurate information. Especially when you are looking for data outside of historical prices.

  3. Not sure if this is the problem, but my platform sometimes resets to defaults. Right click on the column title bar and click customize. Then select the greeks you want.

  4. You are not imagining it: the TOS platform used to display historical Greeks, but TOS deleted that data a few months ago in an effort to conceal evidence showing that in 2008 the firm's Risk Manager defrauded customers by placing discretionary trades into customer accounts that he claimed were "hedges against further losses"; but the trades' hugely negative deltas and thetas proved otherwise. TD Ameritrade is now trying to convince FINRA to dismiss the claim instead of submitting it to arbitration.

Also, you should continue to look for alternate platforms to do your trading, because TOS' complex options analysis graphs are often misleading and in some cases WRONG. I will post more on this soon...

Meanwhile, have a look at OptionsHouse and OptionsXpress. I recommend spending a few weeks exclusively on each platform in DEMO because they each have many useful features that will take some getting used to. Best of luck.
