President Biden’s first midterm performance for president is one of the best in modern history: Only in 1934 (FDR), 1962 (JFK), 2002 (Bush) did the president’s party not lose Senate seats and fewer than 10 House seats.
Sarah Palin went nuclear on the Republican Party, “claiming the GOP sabotaged her Alaska House race and that they deserved their drubbing in the midterms,” The Independent reports. “In a conspiracy-laden Instagram post, Ms Palin blamed the ‘cockamamie’ ranked choice voting system, Senator Lisa Murkowski and the ‘dark, dysfunctional GOP machine’ after she was seemingly trounced by Democrat Mary Peltola for a second time in three months.” Said Palin: “The GOP establishment deserves losses until it’s willing to fight for what is right. They opposed me every step of the way in my Congressional bid, which is par for the course.”
“The Republican Party, staring at the worst midterm performance by a party out of power in two decades, traded recriminations on Friday over whether the ultimate cause was poor candidates, an overheated message or the electoral anchor that appeared to be dragging the G.O.P. down, former President Donald Trump,” the New York Times reports. “With election results still rolling in, a thin Republican majority in the House still appeared likely, but the party’s hopes of capturing the Senate appeared in doubt Friday night after the Democratic incumbent Mark Kelly’s victory over Blake Masters in Arizona. For Republican leaders who had predicted a red wave that would broadly rebuke President Biden, the disappointing showing was undeniable.” “Democratic incumbents have so far won nearly all of their races, while Republicans have racked up surprising losses from Maine to Washington, with candidates endorsed by Mr. Trump losing the pivotal Senate contest in Pennsylvania and key House and statewide races in Michigan, Ohio, North Carolina and elsewhere.” Washington Post: “As Republicans grapple with their lackluster performance in Tuesday’s midterm elections, one man has begun to take on an unusual amount of criticism from his fellow partisans: Donald Trump.”
Counter intelligence people kept the enemy so close, they crossed over. Once international oligarchs saw what they could get away with, the bribery floodgate opened. The consent of the governed principle is being undermined. The Judicial Branch is a lackey of the DOJ in the executive Branch, so there is no check or balance.
New York Times: “How the midterms turned out so improbably was, in many ways, a function of forces beyond Democrats’ control. A Supreme Court decision that stripped away a half-century of abortion rights galvanized their base. A polarizing, unpopular and ever-present former president, Donald J. Trump, provided the type of ready-made foil whom White Houses rarely enjoy.” “But interviews with more than 70 people — party strategists, lawmakers and current and former White House officials — also revealed crucial tactical decisions, strategic miscalculations, misreading of polls, infighting and behind-the-scenes maneuvering in both parties that led the G.O.P. to blow its chance at a blowout.”
New York Times: “Preliminary figures indicate that Democrats, particularly in swing states like Wisconsin and Michigan, benefited from a strong turnout of young voters, aged 18-29, the age group that regularly shows the strongest support for the party — and regularly votes the least.” “But less certain and much debated after Tuesday’s vote was whether the turnout was particularly strong this year, or more a continuation of support seen in the last midterm election in 2018 — which restored the party’s control of both houses of Congress — or the 2020 vote that elected President Biden.”
I think there’s 2 factors behind this: 1. Abortion 2. Convenience. People got used to mail-in ballots in 2020. Talking to people I know, I expect that young people were much more likely to mail in their ballots than vote in person. Had it not be for the pandemic, many would have skipped out if they had to actually show up to the polls.
Love this. Yeah, the problem is not your stupid fucking ideas which the majority does not like, it's only you need to message harder. Lol.
