New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern’s party raced ahead of rivals in the latest opinion poll, putting the charismatic 40-year-old leader on track for a comfortable victory in the elections in September.

A Newshub-Reid Research Poll released late on Sunday showed the popularity of Ardern’s Labour Party rose to 60.9%, the highest it has been in the poll’s history.

  2. What is a proper lockdown? I read the other day that we all need to stay in our own rooms in our own homes for at least 4-6 weeks. Imagine if every single person would stay home and do that. The whole world would fall apart in less than one day.

  3. Dang. It's been an hour and still no response on what the hell a proper lockdown is. You would think a lefty here would of answered this by now. Duh.

Why don't you just follow the successful path of New Zealand and South Korea.

The FACK do they do in New Zealand? Easy to "lock down" a country that does nothing but have pretty landscapes for filming fantasy scenes in movies.

He's no idea. I've heard that it may be best to protect the vulnerable and let it run through the low risk group.

US Travel advisory calls for “increased caution in New Zealand due to COVID-19"

A new travel advisory by the US Department of State has warned citizens to “exercise increased caution in New Zealand” due to COVID-19.

The advisory comes as New Zealand witnesses a handful of new cases after temporarily going COVID-free in June. Though 2-3 new cases have been reported on a daily basis, there is no resurgence in community transmission—with August 9 to mark 100 days since community transmission last took place.

Of the four travel advisory levels, New Zealand is marked as “Level 2: Exercise Increased Caution” on the US State Department website.

New Zealand has now gone 100 days without an internal case of COVID. All of their 23 cases were arrivals from other nations.

New Zealand reports 100 straight days without new local coronavirus cases

One-hundred days have passed since New Zealand recorded a case of the novel coronavirus caused by local transmission, the country’s health ministry announced on Sunday.

“It has been 100 days since the last case of COVID-19 was acquired locally from an unknown source,” the ministry said in a statement. “No additional cases are reported as having recovered, so there are still 23 active cases of COVID-19 in managed isolation facilities.”

The 100-day milestone comes as regions throughout the worldcontinue to weather outbreaks and rising case counts. As of Sunday morning, more than 19.6 million confirmed cases of COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus, were reported worldwide, according to a Johns Hopkins University database.
