Democrat leadership should be ashamed of themselves for inspiring this kind of behavior. Nicholas John Roske, 26, of Simi Valley, California, was charged with the attempted murder of a Supreme Court justice. During a court hearing, he consented to remain in federal custody for now. Roske was dressed in black when he arrived by taxi just after 1 a.m. outside Kavanaugh’s home in a Washington suburb. He had a Glock 17 pistol, ammunition, a knife, zip ties, pepper spray, duct tape and other items that he told police he would use to break into Kavanaugh’s house and kill him, according to a criminal complaint and an affidavit filed in federal court in Maryland. Roske said he purchased the gun to kill Kavanaugh and that he also would kill himself, the affidavit said. Roske told police he was upset by a leaked draft opinion suggesting the Supreme Court is about to overrule Roe v. Wade, the landmark abortion case. He also said he was upset over the school massacre in Uvalde, Texas, and believed Kavanaugh would vote to loosen gun control laws, the affidavit said.
On what grounds? You can’t impeach the Attorney General on grounds that he did his job of investigating and prosecuting criminals but some of them happened to be Republicans.
If you think you can protest at a justice's home while armed and issuing threats to murder them - you would soon learn otherwise. However sadly in this country you can still peacefully protest at the private residences of politicians -- IMO this should not be allowed under law and is intimidation.
"Two Deputy US Marshals saw him exit the vehicle at 1:05 am and look their way before walking down the street. Roske turned himself in by calling 911 while in Kavanaugh's neighborhood, and informing them that he was armed and suicidal. He told responding authorities that he wanted to kill a 'specific Supreme Court justice,' the filing states." Seems like he is just a confused and unwell kid who still has a moral compass.
Yes, experts say protests at SCOTUS justices’ homes appear to be illegal At issue is a statute enacted in 1950: Title 18, Section 1507, of the U.S. Code. The law states that it is illegal, “with the intent of influencing any judge,” to: picket or parade “in or near a building or residence occupied or used by such judge, juror, witness, or court officer” “or with such intent,” to resort “to any other demonstration in or near any such building or residence” Tabatha Abu El-Haj, an expert on protest rights at Drexel University’s law school, said that the current protests at justices’ homes qualify under the statute and that the statute, if tested, would probably be found constitutional.
Probably considering those who would decide it. Of course banning protest is clearly unconstitutional though.
