    There's about 20.5 MM U.S. cases in 9 months.

    What's our population? Like 350MM?

    That's like 6 or 7 (percent-ish) right?

So that's it? The numbers drop from here? Give or take a few....
We "reached herd immunity" two weeks ago right?

I don't buy that. Herd immunity is like 70% via vaccine or natural defenses or whatever.
We're about a million miles from that.

More people are going to die unless we get these vaccines in the arms of everyone.

Imagine what would transpire without a vaccine. Crunch the numbers. The idiots here that touted "herd immunity" without a vaccine.... are low IQ fucking idiots.
Like I said, crunch the numbers.
    Case closed.

  2. Without being overly optimistic, it is nevertheless true that the virus deaths are somewhat close to a pareto effect- whereby 20% of the population accounts for 80% of the deaths - or similar numbers.

Getting the vaccine to that 20% is certainly do-able in the medium term future and should have good results that will help people to hold it together for the long haul. The binary thinkers here will jump up and point out that there will still be a pantload of problems for a long time after that, as if I implied that there would not. I didn't even come close to that. Just saying anyone who has ever had to cross over a long tough period knows that you need some milestones and wins along the way to help hold it together and lowering the death rate among the vulnerable will or would be nice and that can happen long, long before herd immunity.

    Methinks.

And yes, I get that we have fallen short against Trump's aggressive projections but we are also years ahead of where we had any right to expect to be last spring. So there is that. The first couple to few weeks or month of a projects roll-out are not always the easiest - refer to the roll-out of Obamacare and their website for more on that. How bout that trillion dollar stimulus for the "shovel-ready" jobs that were ready to go?.......womp....womp...womp.

Correct...the idiots that touted "natural herd immunity" are the brightest bunch plus they refuse to understand that 60% - 70% of the population would have caused > million Covid-19 deaths to achieve natural herd immunity.

Worst, there's no guarantee it will last beyond several months.

In contrast, they say "vaccine herd immunity" for Covid-19 will last much longer and at worst become your yearly vaccination shot in the fall like the Flu shot...a lot less cheaper than sacrificing > million deaths and the financial cost of killing off a million income earners would be devastating.

Regardless, countries like Sweden that touted natural herd immunity didn't work but they are smart in abandon it recently instead of killing off a large part of their population. They are not doing what the rest of the world is doing...

    Preparing to get vaccinated.

    Where's clown-face?
    Re-reading the Georgia state constitution?

To his credit however... its the low IQ idiot mindset that he so proudly sports and posts about on multiple websites... not that he has the power to move anything.... but the fact that he is but one more guppy in a sea of a million others...
.....The "incapable to think logically"... guppies....

... This is why the VIX will remain above 17 near term.

It IS a trading website after-all right?

    Right.

  7. OMG you are not supposed to mix trading down here in this Political section.

Or maybe it was the opposite and that is why the Political section was born at ET. :D

Had we kept the high risk isolated and let the low risk live their lives we might have had a chance at herd immunity.

    we will never know.
Instead for some reason which the left will never admit... our govts refused to concentrate their efforts where they were needed. Keeping the high risk isolated and protected.

Lol. Total Cases does nothing equal total infected.
In fact, it’s not even close.
This is the weakest pandemic in the last 500 years.
