On this Veterans day of 2021, I wanted to take a moment and thank the true heroes of our country.

Sure. It's easy to say, "Thank you for your service." But who deserves our thanks?

Is it the "hero" who was born into poverty and chose the service as a way out for her and her family?

After 20 years of consecutive service to the King, our hero gets a nice stipend for the rest of her life. Medical and dental care are a given. So is PTSD, alcoholism, suicide and a broken family.

With any luck our hero has a family, and as we all know, family comes first. Unless of course you are one of the heroes. If selected our hero will spend as much time away from her family as with them. TDYs, training, combat and a host of other duties are required to gain that monthly stipend.

However, our hero knows the pain of poverty.

Too bad our hero had to give up her liberty to smite the curse of poverty.

    ...

So let me thank our heroes on behalf of Exxon, Haliburton and most corporations for whom out heroes serve and protect.

    ...

The hero will say to me, "I fought for your freedoms."

    Hmmm.

    That's not true!

How does blowing up Iraq and propelling a distant land - uled by a ruthless dictator - into chaos protect my freedom?

    It doesn't!

Mythology is alive and well in America and it's not just taught on Sundays.

    ...

    Hippies are my heroes.

    ...

Those of you who protested the Vietnam war are following in the footsteps of the founders of our country.

Rebellion is the heart beat of America!

Those of you who risk life and limb protesting the violence perpetrated on the citizenry of the USA by an out of control police state are my heroes.

    ...

So once again. Thank you to the real heroes of America.

    ...

    Thank you for your service.

    ...

If you're not woke, you're still sleeping.

Dude, yer being a total asshole here. On Veterans's Day, no less.

    You have forgotten.

So FUCK YOU DUDE! Why don't you WAKE THE FUCK UP ON BE WOKE YOURSELF! You mother fucker.

This is how it spreads. We "forget about the Holocaust". We forget about the Cold War with the Soviets. We forget about Vietnam. We forget about Afghanistan. We forget about this and that, and we get fucked when we let our guard down.

And you just dis the fuck out of our Veterans? We're having this conversation because 9/11 happened only once. Were it to happen again? It will be back to nukes. NEVER FORGET, ASSHOLE!

It's jarring to read Johnny Rocks post on an occasion set aside to honor our veterans. Johnny's timing seems inappropriate and crass. Seen as an indictment of ourselves, however, perhaps JohnnyRocks post, painful as it is, needs to be read more on this day than any other.

Why don’t you copy it and stick it on your bathroom mirror so you can read shit while you smell it.

Johnny Rock’s post doesn’t deserve a reply. It’s the rambling of an arrogant, privileged, clueless punk.

You're a clown, Johnny. But you're entitled to your opinion.

You're just another dummy who pretends to care about out troops. If you actually served, then you are dumber than I thought.
