I want to trade VX futures from tradingview. The price increments are $0.005 on my chart, but the CBOE page says the minimum tick size is 0.05 points. Is 0.05 points equivalent to $0.005? Thinkorswim tick size for VX is $0.01. Really confused...
Regular size:- Tick Size 0.05 points ($50.00 per contract) Mini is:- "0.01 index points, equal to $1.00 per contract."
Thanks. It's what I figured. It's just weird that my chart shows OHLC data at 1/10 ticks. The bars are closing/opening at $0.005 increments.
From https://www.cboe.com/tradable_products/vix/vix_futures/specifications/ "Minimum Price Intervals/Dollar Value Per Tick: 0.05 points, equal to $50.00 per contract" However: "The permissible minimum increment for a TAS Block Trade (including as a spread transaction but not as a strip) and a TAS Exchange of Contract for Related Position transaction in VX futures is 0.005 index points." "The minimum price increment for an ECRP transaction involving the VX futures contract is 0.005 index points." "The minimum price increment for a Block Trade in the VX futures contract is 0.005 index points." So you might see 0.005 price increments even though we trade in 0.05 increments.
If you are new to trading I'd suggest you don't start with VIX futures, they can be rather tricky to trade and a beginner is probably better off looking at other futures products such as index futures for example.
