i never really thought about this and been using heiken ashi candles since the begining becasue it looks cleaner.

what are the advantages and disadvantages of each type of candle stick when it comes to scalping?
is one type preferred over another for scalping?(or other lower time frame trading)

please read question and not post random replies unrelated to question

    scalping using heiken ashi?

    I tried on Esignal.
It wouldn't work. There is something wrong with the way they
-compute the highs and the lows
    -display the candlestick tails

Other charting s/w might compute the heiken ashi candlesticks differently.

scalping using normal candlesticks work fine.

Neither, been using bar charts since 1987 for scalping 30 second in beginning to 5 minutes now.

HA is a false bar to me and I doubt candlesticks made for intraday trading. When you trade smaller timeframes, patterns become noise, so at my age, 5 minute bars make more sense going for netting 2 points for the day and doing volume contracts of ES.

I have very limited experience with candlesticks, @maxinger more experienced with them.

Using HA for scalping is like trying to drive NASCAR using the rearview mirror.

  6. There's quite a lot of misunderstanding about HA candles, in trading forums.

Some people say they're "more reliable for fast trading than bars/candles" and that's not quite right. Others say they "don't display the price" and that's also so oversimplified that it's basically wrong.

The reality is that on fast-moving charts, HA candles almost never display the correct opening price, but almost always display accurately the higher highs and lower lows of bars that make higher highs and/or lower lows.

Depending on which matter to you, that can matter. But for most retail traders trying to scalp, most of the time, which they use probably isn't ever going to make the difference between overall profit and overall loss. (Most will lose anyway. Not all.)

It's also worth knowing that some platforms, as their default, when displaying HA candles, have indicators calculated from the parameters of the HA candles as displayed, while others will display HA candles but still calculate any indicators also displayed from the underlying prices from which the HA candles were themselves calculated, as a default. For scalping, this can actually make a significant difference. It's easy enough to verify, but surprisingly few people think of it.

im asking because regular candles are absolute shit on webull thats mainly the reason i switched to HA
i tried using TOS after using webull for years and TOS absolutely is trash when it comes to the rest of the interface but the charts are much more intuitive and easier to read with regular candles.

i wish there was some kind of standard being enforced in these platforms to display candle sticks correctly

are yall saying that HA takes longer to process and build the candle sticks vs regular sticks? im not following.

  9. Yea, Handle123 has been scalping off 30sec charts since 1987.

  10. Aloha mute,

That's what's up ^. Not to say it cant be done, but I have never read of anyone successfully scalping with Heikin candles.

IMO, time is pretty damn important in trading (in other words, # of candles between A and B)

Glad you're keeping at it mute. Take the fast path... it's been laid out for you by several people.
