I have seen Asian people near where I live wearing masks for years during the winter. Maybe they learned this from where they came from?
My next door neighbor let me know he isn't getting vaxed. I'm ok with that. But lately he has been going on about masks and hasn't put one on for a month or so. I verified that he is shopping at some of the same places as I do so I'm amazed. He says nobody has said a single word to him about it. He is a big guy and was a pro boxer so maybe that has something to do with it. I tried to explain that, at this point, mask wearing doesn't have anything to do with disease mitigation. I only wear the damned thing so that I am not a source of anxiety for those who have been frightened by the government or who are legit vulnerable. Its common courtesy and has nothing to do with safety.
More Tucker Carlson nonsense. Where I can see mask wearing as a practice continue is in nursing homes. We certainly learned that basic mitigation like mask wearing dramatically reduces flu spread. I bet that becomes a common practice. As to Fauci, that man deserves a medal. And not just for the scientific and public health work he did but for having to deal with right wing idiots and not get sidetracked by Republican stupidity.

You would have thought after we learned this in New York -- that DeSantis in Florida would not also put active COVID patients in nursing homes run by wealth political donors -- but he did.

He also prohibited transferring patients who had tested positive for coronavirus into a long-term care facility.
Go read about the "Isolation Centers" in nursing homes put in place by DeSantis. He had to stop them in October after they were overwhelmed with COVID.
