Great dialogue from Carolla on the abuses coming from government employees and those reliant on government, that no republicans can seem to put a stop too. First speech they go over is from mulvaney on food stamps but the second one from mulvaney on government pensions is epic, Mulvaney asks the reporters at the conference "How many of you have 2 retirement accounts?" and no one puts their hands up. Why the fuck do government employees get a full pension when they can put money in too a 401k? Why shouldnt they be forced into the same program we all are with matching contributions? Why do they get cost of living adjusted pensions for the rest of their life after 25 years? They arent even living in the real world. Mulvaney says about food stamps i do have compassion, i have compassion for people who get the benefits and i have compassion for those who pay for them as well and somewhere in between there is a balance. Why is it republicans struggle so hard on this question when liberals try to call them heartless for cutting food stamps 8 years out of a recession. Trump needs to promote Mick Mulvaney to press secretary, or some position of influence.
I listened to about 15 mins yesterday and he's obviously got a point... I can't stand Corolla's voice so I had to quit. I don't think most reasonable voters would argue that there's abuse and people should be more carefully vetted, yet I find it most surprising that Republicans don't go after the highest budget expense (defense) and would rather go after their own population. And let's not turn a blind eye to the fact that these same Republicans would be the ones against imposing controls on what the public can buy w/those food stamps.
Yeah your right about his voice its definitely hard to listen too but i love some of his comedy, and i love the way he lays out views, hes a very logical thinker, and he presents things in a way that are pretty tough to argue.
The tiniest fraud in the defense budget probably exceeds the whole food stamp budget. As far as problems go, food stamps must be down there at well below problem 9,999,999. Just once I would like to see one cut in the goods and services taxpayers must give congressmen. Their total compensation and benefits is beyond absurd, it's down right disgusting. And it is entirely the principle of the thing not really the money. I don't really care how much they make on the side or from lobbying, or even in bribes compared to what they demand from us legally.
LOL, i want to see the defense budget cut too but just because one is bloated it doesnt give reason that we should accept waste in every single budget. And food stamps are a minor thing, when you compare them to the ticking time bomb that is government pensions, that far exceeds any other specific area of the budget, but that one is more of a state/municipal issue, but eventually those bailouts are coming back to the federal government.
This is true, I was listening to an argument that resonates, I think it was the budget cut to the arts which was around 100 million. And it was a drop in the sea compared to some of the waste in the defense department or corporate tax cuts. But it sells well to the/the right because it hurts the "lazy, the lefty, the immigrant, etc.."
lets just cap the spending levels right now. We could eliminate income. Within a few years the budget deficit would go away. Then we could have real debates about where the money should be spent. It would be really cool if we debate the kind of society we want to have and how we should be spending ... without having individual income taxes. Everyone should have skin the game or no one should have skin in the game.
Not true, not true at all elitist pig. Stop stereotyping me pigface. I fought hard against the athletic department to keep music in the school, and also hard to keep government out of the arts. I played with a Russian outfit and one of the rules was we had to listen to government propaganda from each visiting musician. It sounded fantastic, I wanted to move to Russia and just get paid with vacation like a real job. Couple of years later I was signing petitions to free a musician who didn't tow the party line. Dumbass rich bitch. Spend your own money on your own art. And keep your government paws off of mine carpsucker. The right loves art, immigrants and foodstamps. The left hates anything that is good. Leftists are born evil. They want to kill anything that is not approved by the government. The left are beyond saving and just emitting tons of Co2. I only just barely tolerate them because I don't want to be a bad reflection on Trump, and Jesus makes me be nice.
I've heard you say this a few times, but I don't follow where the revenue comes from unless it involves fed printing.
