finally, a day with some decent range...21, best range since June 9 (that was the 31 point day) points form high to low..volume on the sept contract at 1,600,000, best volume since June 16. good longs right off the bat, then lots of short opportunities for rest of the day. And the VIX? still at 11, I think I am ready to stop paying attention to the VIX.... anyway, great day,,, hope all you ES guys did well
OK I did,,,, alll I see is a VXST that started low and came up to 11 ish.... maybe I am just tired,,, what am I supposed to see,,oh by the way...what is the difference from VIX to VXST??
I found it on CME website , so obviously VXST is better for a day trader The CBOE Short-Term Volatility Index (VXST) and the CBOE Volatility Index® (VIX®) both reflect investors' consensus view of expected stock market volatility. While the VIX measures expectations of 30-day future volatility, the VXST provides a market-based gauge of expectations of 9-day volatility, making it particularly responsive to changes in the S&P 500®Index. The VXST Index provides a market estimate of short-term expected (implied) volatility that is calculated by using real-time S&P 500® Index option bid/ask quotes. VXST uses nearby and second nearby options with at least 1 day left to expiration and then weights them to yield a constant, nine-day measure of the expected volatility of the S&P 500 Index.
You shouldn't really expect or want/demand great days...even just small days will grow exponentially into a nuclear bomb relatively quickly. -- Assuming your trading skill is there and intact and functioning. But how much did you make today...either %-wise or dollar wise When I was first starting out, I salivated at the thought of having monster days back-to-back-to-back; But now, I more appreciate the mechanical and systematic and art side of executing a good, harmonious trade, Everything else will easily take care of itself and is just the icing on the cake, once you have a solid backbone cartilage foundation, And besides, you can't really control the big bitchy moody Market Lady....you just have to take what she offers or exposes to you,
