Can anyone recommend some great books to learn Mathemathics?

I ask because I've gotten to a point where I'm studying formulas and models and feeling completely lost when I read some of those things. Outside of basic algebra, my math skills are pretty limited.

So, I'd like to know if there are any rudimentary books on the subject that could help me to become more proficient in math.

Thanks in advance. Any help is appreciated.

    Greetings O,

Since I'm assuming that you're just interested in acquiring some practical facility with using the different mathematical tools and functions, vice exhaustive research and learning, I would suggest that you visit www.kahnacademy.org. I believe you will find exactly what you're looking for there.

My only regret is that this excellent learning tool was not available when I was teaching High School.

Thanks for that resource! That's even better than what I asked for.

  4. Check out discrete mathematics books, they are more computer science sided.

    Mostly anything gets complicated fast.

Maybe you just need to learn some Excel or OpenOffice calc.?
