I have 10 stops to go to in a city, the stops are all within 5-10 minutes of each other, but would rather not pass by the same spot twice.

I want a mapping program where I through in all 10 locations and it suggests the best rout to hit all 10. With the least gas or time spent.

Is there any mapping program that can do this?

Isn't this how "Collateral" with Tom Cruise and Jamie Foxx started?

  5. google maps can do that.

first, add the destination points one by one. then you can rearrange their order to get the optimal route.

one nice thing is that google map will show you the duration of the individual legs.

I am aware of this, however all these locations are very close to each other and occasionally the locations bump up from just 10 to 30. Which is a headache to look at individually.

  7. that's all i know :(

one problem i encountered with google map: after saving the map with multiple destinations i was not able to edit the map (add destinations, etc).

  8. Probably better off mapping by human than computer. Imo, multiple short stops with few miles- time will trump fuel efficiency.

Traffic considerations, left turn, right turn, etc might slow you down although you may pass a stop. and this appears inefficient, may not prove to be true.

If you were to use a program I might try odd and even numbered stop addresses and see what results you get.
