My son is a gamer with a large youtube presence. He has nearly 900,000 subscribers at last check. He tells me that his youtube revenue has dropped nearly 30% YOY. He has lost some subscribers in 2014 from a peak of 925,000 in 2013. All of his gaming friend with large channels say the same thing, a large drop in subs and/or revenue. They are all talking about views per video and sub losing somewhere along the lines of 30-50% YOY. This has to bode poorly for GOOG shares.
Perhaps the issue at hand is not GOOG, but the fact that the barrier to entry is so low. Even my 8-year old son has a youtube channel with gaming videos. So maybe the reason that your son and his friend's stats are down is because the competition for the same user base has significantly increased.
Does you son have over a million subscribers? Does he have over 50? My son made $280,000 last year from youtube. He is on track to make $180,000 this year. My kid goes to great lengths to quantify his ad-revenues and income. He talks to all of the channels in his niche with over 100K subscribers and they all share data. The space is contracting. That's the only thing that they agree upon. A sample of 20-30 large channels.
save that money, save that money. youtube owns it all...so be lucky now. hopefully ur kid now has 10 websites with subscription models and selling products made in china. youtube can pay him 10k and he will like it. or go away. youtube doesn't care. anyhow, hope he is grounded and not to self-centered. creates insecurities later that can be bad. good luck
He does. He's been over 100,000 subscribers for nearly three years. It is an absurd amount of money for a 16YO, but he's going to pay for college. The ad-account is an LLC and joint. He wants to buy 2010 Land Cruiser now that he has a license and he dresses too well for a HS kid, but those are his only vices, per se. He's very mechanically-inclined so he may buy a new RAM with a Cummins. He's thrifty, generally. He looks at the depreciation of whatever durable goods he buys. Anyway, GOOG is at a monthly low here. I have no idea of the catalyst other than all of the top you tubers are bitching. pew, captainsparkelz, etc.
He destriero, How is your son doing on youtube these days, he was making $280,000 back in 2014. He must be killing it now. At Least $500,000 right?
I was way off. I looked at his public metrics when he had 560K subs. His views were down more than 50% in 2017 and trending on another 40% this year. My wife says his peak earnings were 110K as YT Partner— account is in her name. He makes more from Twitch than YT and hasn’t uploaded to YT in months. He plays CS:GO, Fortnite, PUBG; Rust, others. He streams PUBG squads but plays as a solo player and wins approx 20% of squads as solo. Meaning he goes into PUBG on PC, console and mobile as a single player, playing squads against four players and wins 1/5. He tells me that Ninja pays for his Twitch stream. I am not going to divulge his gaming handles, so you can disregard the above if you wish.
lol ignored member = southall stalking. Cool, Bro. I'll send you his Twitch handle if you agree to a heads-up game of PUBG with him. Winner (last to die) wins $10K?
That was 2010 and only a triple in nine months! You must be worth $5B by now! Nice going! https://www.elitetrader.com/et/thre...-by-year-end-2010.187779/page-44#post-2753295
