    But it was like that in 2000 as well. Markets had been going up in one direction for years.

    Actually, if you count execution-oriented IT staff, the numbers are not that different today. The only truly manual function that's left to do (those two guys) is block trading.

    Dodd - Frank and the sale of Speer. Banks have forced to jettison these businesses. Not really a lot to do with the market itself.
