A relative is 64 and looks great. He is a runner/skier and has been taking NAC + Glycine (aka GlyNAC) for 3 years now. Note: Glycine has a sweet taste so you can use it as a sweetener. I am thinking of giving it a try... To test whether GlyNAC supplementation in OA could improve GSH deficiency, OxS, mitochondrial dysfunction, IR, physical function, and aging hallmarks, we conducted a placebo-controlled randomized clinical trial." Results "Compared to YA, OA had GSH deficiency, OxS, mitochondrial dysfunction (with defective molecular regulation), inflammation, endothelial dysfunction, IR, multiple aging hallmarks, impaired physical function, increased waist circumference, and systolic blood pressure. GlyNAC (and not placebo) supplementation in OA improved/corrected these defects."
I haven't seen him for years, so hard to tell. He was always on the skinny side with little variation. He does have maybe more upper body muscle what is usually not significant for runners.
Okay, but I don’t think a guy in his 60s can put on new muscle without working those muscles, PEDs notwithstanding.
If I see such strange unpronounceable difficult-to-spell words in foodstuffs, I'd avoid it totally. There is far too much toxic food in this world. Also, there are many snake oil salesmen. Stick to the normal food from mother earth. Don't eat Frankenstein's man-made food. eg don't take trans fat and hydrogenated oil which are created from seeds like soy, sunflower, corn .... by humans. The oil from the seed has been subjected to severe torture until the Hydrogen atom moved (ie trans) on the molecular C-H chain.
I started to take them yesterday, going for 1g-1g. Will report back if I feel anything. Not sure if related but I played 2 hours of tennis yesterday and I am not sore today... Summary: Glycine is made in the body (3 g/day). You also eat around 3 g per day. Some people cannot make it as much as they need it. We need 10 - 60 g per day. It's hard to get it from the diet today. Benefits: 1. Helps with sleep, anxiety 2. Calms gut inflammation 3. Helps with muscle and joint health 4. Fights premature ageing 5. Fights inflammation 6. Building block for collagen Dietary sources (good to best): Eggs, seafood, meat, bone broth, skin of any animal.
YT comments: MrSurferglobal 8 months ago "I've been having 2-3 grams of glycine powder with 2-3 grams on NAC powder 2-3 times a day on an empty stomach on top of taking collagen peptides (20g) with chelated copper tablets and vitamin C from fresh organic oranges once a day and not with the NAC/Glycine. At 57 years my joints and tendons are 100% and I have been training at the gym for 15 years and am on the tools at work. Age wise I look and feel like I'm 43." MA T 2 years ago "Just started taking this a week ago and feel the difference in sleep and gut issues" P 2 years ago "I can testify to that. Taking Glycin before sleep. Its a precursor of Gaba and helps me to sleep trough the night. I hope I can make myself eat it directly from the carnivorous diet more in the future. I find it unpleasant still." three story 2 months ago "My research says take GLYNAC (Glycine and NAC at 1800mg of each in the evening. I have been for a few weeks and I have noticed better sleep and feel much more energy in the mornings. I used to feel a little foggy in the morning. It definitely helps after alcohol. Most supplements I use don't have any notable impact on me in the short term, at least. This one was very noticeable. Also, it helps you make glutathione which is deficient in folks over 50. I am 63 and been Keto 3 years"
By incorporating more fish, meat, and spinach into your diet, you can increase the glycine content in your body. This can have positive effects on your hair and skin.
