    Ghosn Scandal

    Nissan and Renault chair and CEO (respectively) Carlos Ghosn is in huge trouble for allegedly misreporting his own compensation. Nissan is in the process of sacking him, and has given information to the Japanese public prosecutor. Ghosn has been arrested, and the car companies' shares are tanking. Bloomberg

    Ghosn Plans

    Carlos Ghosn was reportedly planning to merge Nissan and Renault before his house of cards came tumbling down. Nissan's board was against the deal, but some apparently expected the merger announcement to come within months. In related news, Renault announced Ghosn's interim replacement as CEO and chairman yesterday: chief operating officer Thierry Bollore. Financial Times

  7. As so often with Western media reporting about Japan, have they reached their conclusions prematurely.

    Former Nissan chief Carlos Ghosn was re-arrested Friday on charges of breach of trust, after a judge on Thursday refused to extend his jailing over income mis-reporting charges. New York Times.
