Getting withholding tax back from the Irish tax authorities

  1. IB Ireland was late to recognize that Ireland charges withholding tax on interest income. Consequently, withholding tax was charged retroactively. Clients were asked to obtain a tax exemption certificate from the tax authorities and forward it to IB and then IB going forward would not charge withholding tax if that was in accordance with the double taxation treaty.

    I did that.

Has anyone succeeded in getting the already charged withholding tax back from the Irish tax authorities?
