Germany and the EU have a 10 percent tariff on our cars and we only have a 2.5% on theirs.

Trump is not kidding when he said previous administrations were stupid.

And so was everyone who said that we should not be threatening tariffs.

What is so funny is how many lefties here like Piezoe and the foreign trolls were ripping trump on this issue. As if they understood world trade and how economics really works. We were also taking heat from free market true believers who really thought free trade was free and fair. I understood their position because it took me a few years to break free of the lectures I received in college. Its like Econ professors are either marxist or free traders with

  10. If the euros are so committed to free trade, why did they have a 10% tariff on our cars?

The answer is obvious. They are total hypocrites. They understand that maintaining an industrial base is key to prosperity and they are quite happy to do it at our expense, if we were dumb enough to allow them to rip us off like that. For 30 years of establishment republicans and leftwing dems, we were.

Now however it's not going to be adequate just to make it equal. We have to be compensated for decades of unfairness. And for freeloading off our defense budget.
