    Deutsch:

    Hallo zusammen,

    English:

    Hello everyone,

I have a question for all profitable retail traders:

What activities do you engage in outside your trading hours and analyses (charting, fundamental analysis, backtesting)? Do you have specific hobbies you enjoy, or do you regularly attend meetings or events to network and exchange ideas?

Personally, I greatly value real-life interactions and find them far more meaningful than purely virtual meetings. Genuine, face-to-face conversations offer deeper connections, foster mutual trust, and allow for more insightful discussions.

This has led me to consider whether there might be interest within the German-speaking trading community in establishing an exclusive club or bar for traders. Perhaps even something structured as a regular meetup or club, providing opportunities for networking, exchanging ideas, and creating mutual value. I understand many traders prefer to operate independently, but occasionally stepping out of our comfort zones for genuine interactions can be extremely rewarding.

Have you already had experiences with trader meet-ups, or does this idea resonate with you?

I look forward to your thoughts and recommendations!

    Best regards from Switzerland

First...How do we know if you are an AI bot??

    Do we even bother??

As we see more, we will respond more...

The US trading community (successful), is made up mostly of math/finance nerds.

They tend to not interact well in party/social functions.

Think of having an interesting conversation with an actuary...

The very successful do not share their secrets...

At parties they will be in the background talking/petting the dog or with someone quoting obscure movie references...

It may work different in Europe...Visit Zurich and tell us what you come up with!!

Watch the movie "The Big Short"...

That will give you a glimpse of what many traders look like...

Look at Christian Bale and Brad Pitt...Just a little fatter and nerdier.

I live on the coast and bike around on a mtb ebike. Where I live are long deserted beaches with endless sand.
Right now looking to buy a bike direct out of China, 3000w-5000w (a motorbike which pretends to be a bicycle).

As well for the last few years I've been trying to perfect a model yacht which hauls out a fishing line from the beach. Have made well over 30 prototypes but I'm never happy with the results, like trading, never satisfied.

Haha, great points! Honestly, sometimes I even question myself whether I’m talking to an AI or a real person—maybe that’s a sign we’re spending too much time online. Jokes aside, there’s definitely truth in what you’re saying. Most successful traders I’ve encountered online fit your description perfectly: they’re finance nerds who’d rather pet their Excel sheets than socialize.

However, what I’ve also noticed from traders I’ve connected with over time—especially those who opened up after we built trust—is that many secretly crave genuine human interaction. They’d prefer exchanging ideas face-to-face rather than solely through screens, and over time, they admitted wanting exactly the kind of relaxed, exclusive club environment I’ve been thinking about. Yes, in Switzerland, people tend to be reserved compared to the more outgoing culture in the U.S., but once you break through that initial barrier, you’ll find many would actually appreciate such meet-ups.

By the way, great movie recommendation! „The Big Short“ captures that trader spirit well—Christian Bale and Brad Pitt, just with a bit more weight and nerd-factor, right?

Thanks for your insights—always appreciated! And who knows, maybe this vision of a traders’ club is just futuristic enough to actually happen. Or maybe we’re all just stuck in a simulation?

Awesome, sounds like you’re living the dream! I ride MTB as well—currently on a Kenevo SL here in Switzerland. E-MTB is pretty much the only way to go here because enduro or MX gets tricky fast with all the “Karens” around, haha. Never tried models two of my Friends are into that but with model cars idk about that not the my Thing

But even online, Swiss traders are not very active, as you can see on their forum: www.trader-forum.ch

Yeah, exactly—that’s why I’m reaching out and asking around here. Personally, I see huge potential in such meet-ups, and my circle does too. It’s a great way to build genuine connections. Even though Swiss traders might seem less active online, I think a relaxed, face-to-face environment could really bring people out. My friends have also mentioned they’d definitely enjoy something like this, so I’m just trying to gauge broader interest.

Appreciate your input und grüess zrugg wo hetz die denne jetze he verschlage?

Many good traders deal with social anxiety...

    Think Asperger's Syndrome...

They would have a hard time selling life insurance...

    I was a Realtor...I HATED to network!!

I would love to read the contract...Right here should be an "and" rather than an "or".

One on one...Two on one, I am good.

We tend to not be social butterflies...

    Hoi Pauldapra

Wo wohnst du in CH? Seit Jahren gibt es eine Meet-Up Gruppe in Zuerich, die regelmassig am Donnerstags treffen werden. Mischung aus EN und DE. Viele sprechen/handeln mit Crypto, aber auch Aktien und andere..
