Gavin Newsom explained to journalists on Monday that Solar Cells don't generate power when there is cloud cover and it is nightime. Governor Newsom also explained that Wind Turbines don't generate power when the wind doesn't blow. California is expected to be 4,400 Megawatts short on power today as the State and the West Coast suffers through a heat wave. The Governor requested that thermostats be set at 78 degrees, but it is widely expected that Members of the Screen Actors Guild are exempted. State officials said that one of the reasons for the energy shortage was an over-reliance on 'renewables' (solar and wind). Governor Newsom said during the press conference that the State had to "sober up" about the fact that renewables had failed to provide enough power at peak demand, and that California needed "backup" and "insurance" from other energy sources.
If I was in cali and power/ac went out I'd drive around in car for a couple hours with ac on..... bad timing especially for seniors
California's population continues to grow, overall, even with many over time leaving. Therefore it's energy needs grow as well.
And people think that will be able to live in space and colonize Mars yet the state of California in 2020 is short on power because of a small heat wave ....this is too amusing
At least he put the responsibility in the right place - "the State" has to sober up. Because there's this group of people called engineers that could have told them about a thing called "peak demand"... hell, the ones that were managing the Faida Canal 3000+ years ago could have told them all about it. But politicians are a special breed; it takes them a while. CA traders, take note: get a large UPS and a backup generator, now.
Is governor Newsom and the State finally sobering up to the fact that electricity comes from something other than "the plug"?
Whatchu mean??? You stick the pluggie thingie in, electricity comes out. You can't 'splain that! Politicians, dude. They ain't elected for their brains. I've used that video to clue several people in since you turned me onto it.
Maybe while yer at it, you could get someone, like that CEO of "MyPillow", to offer up a solution to Newsom's pressing problems... Well, that is easy. At night or when it is cloudy, just plug in a fuckton of 1000W metal halides in an array and shine them on the solar panels. That should work. When the wind stops blowing? Just get a whole bunch of those Hollywood fans they use to simulate wind in a movie, and point them at the turbines. That should get them moving enough to generate power. P.S. Patent applications for perpetual-motion machines must be accompanied with a working model.
