Gangster’ Sam Bankman-Fried pictured in jail, poses alongside Bloods members who call him ‘weird as s–t’ By Shannon Thaler Published Feb. 20, 2024, 11:27 a.m. ET A shaggy-haired and bearded Sam Bankman-Fried was pictured alongside a former Bloods gang member in the first jailhouse photo of the disgraced crypto kingpin after he was convicted of fraud. Crypto crime reporter Tiffany Fong posted the image to YouTube on Monday, noting that the inmate next to the disgraced FTX boss is a gangster named G-Lock whom she had interviewed. ADVERTISEMENT G Lock told Fong the photo was taken at the troubled Metropolitan Detention Center last Dec. 17 — six weeks after Bankman-Fried was found guilty on all seven fraud and conspiracy charges related to stealing $10 billion from users of his failed crypto exchange. Bankman-Fried, who remains at the Brooklyn jail while awaiting sentencing on March 28, is seen wearing an oversized T-shirt and gym shorts alongside G Lock, who told Fong that the 31-year-old former billionaire is “a good guy. Weird as s–t, can be strange. But he is a good guy.” The jail only allows inmates to be photographed around Christmas and Father’s Day. ADVERTISEMENT 3 Crypto crime reporter Tiffany Fong released this photo of jailed Sam Bankman-Fried — the first of him from inside MDC Brooklyn. He was pictured alongside ex-gang members around Christmas, according to Fong. Obtained by Tiffany Fong G Lock also said that when he first met Bankman-Fried, he “had a belly, he was eating good. [Now] he’s skinny like a toothpick.” Ad https://nypost.com/2024/02/20/busin...-in-jail-poses-alongside-ex-gang-members/amp/
From richest in the world for his age to being among low life thugs that will rape, stab, or even kill for a few dollars worth of Ramen or a Twinkies. His sentence 115 years is over the top. Maybe a future president will Pardon him. Trump pardoned a bunch of gangsta rappers - so you never know.
It must be a low security prison. Prisoners wear what they like. They can wear watches, and everyday they probably have eat-all-you-want meals.
Regulatory authorities failed to performed their jobs. His malfeasances should have been discovered years ago.
The photo quality is horrific. My old 20 y/o handphone camera can give a much better quality image. Did the cameraman used the handphone that was dropped into the toilet bowl full of shit???
What do you expect??? Inmates have to resort to shoving small phones up their rectums, it's not like they got world class portrait studio in there, Jeez....
It's the American dream, equality under the law.....a bit more equal depending on who's running the country and who you ripped off (cue Maddoff). As to the sentence, you have to remember several retirements worth of money was lost so it's like robbing people's savings from a bank. I do hope no one lost their retirement on this tho.
They expect to be fully repaid due to recent gains on his investments. I know you're very slow but try to keep up with the world. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cn...-jail-ftx-customers-await-full-repayment.html
115 years in jail??!! You sure? I thought he's still awaiting sentencing in March according to the article. That is outrageous if it's true!! All he did was commingling client funds with companies' operating funds, that to many financial institutions is just compliance oversight. LOL He didn't really steal anything from his clients nor defraud them. All the drop in value of his clients' crypto value was due to imo the deliberate dumping of the in-house crypto done by his rival CZ Zhao who really is the one who should be going to jail for the securities fraud that he committed in his dumping and then announcing the dumping afterwards in social media. So CZ Zhao is the one who really defrauded Friedman's clients but interestingly enough he's still living at large and was almost allowed to go to the United Arab Emirates, a country that has no extradition treaty with United States promising to return to his trial. Thank God at least one judge saw through the lies and insisted he remain in the USA for his trial.
