So is this thing going to be the new iPhone or the laser disc? What say you? The Gear smartwatch is £299 per piece. Most people don't even wear watches anymore because every device has it, your car has one and when home, most rooms have a device with a clock on it. Sure you can see the weather, or you could look out the window. You can make a phonecall, or you can just use your smart phone....
I see the logic in it as far as tying it to your phone and being able to check your phone from your wrist (as well as other functions) but I think the price is to high right now. Pebble came out with theirs a while back and I was excited at first, but that quickly faded. I wear a watch on occasion, but typically for "bling" purposes and not so much for time purposes. To each their own and all that.
For trading purposes i would want to get alerts, current price, and perhaps have the ability to close a position if needed. wouldnt want to be opening new positions on the thing. Its a bit less rude to look at your watch when in the company of other people than it is to constantly watch your phone.
I can see one purpose that they haven't advertised it yet, child monitoring. If they can make it in a way so a small child can't take it off, it can be used to locate the kid or as an emergency contact device. That would make sense, and in this security conscious world could be a big hit.
