Gaining control of information

  1. I hope this is the correct forum to ask this question. Please feel free to move this thread if it is not.

My trading is still doing fine, however, I am looking for suggestions on how people control their information flow in today's world. I find an explosion in emails, blogs, posts, etc. but my time has never increased - I have only 24 hours in a day and I get cranky if I don't sleep.

When I subscribe to something they want an email and inevitably more and more pitches come from them. Eventually I make the nigerian scam shopping lists and princes with money export problems. (There sure are a lot of princes (and princesses) out there LOL. I have even won the Microsoft lottery several times but never claimed my prize!) Then I have to change my email address. Sometimes I get busy. Sometimes I am interested in their approach. Sometimes they are in mine. I have never found a guru in decades of search. My suspicion is that they would tell me to leave them alone - somewhat like the "Life of Brian" movie.

Does anyone have suggestions on how they whittle the incoming flow down and focus on the diamonds in the dung pile?

open a new gmail account for every vendor. I have 1 email address I only use for ib, they send me a notice every day my daily report is ready. Once a week I check it and delete all the mail. I have one gmail I only use for et and another website unrelated to trading and that's all.

  3. Maybe if you don't go digging in the dung heap, you wouldn't be bringing home the dung.

Googles, new INBOX is pretty good, you can schedule emails from certain people to go into a read later folder so it won't hassle you live, or get reminded off them again maybe 30mins later or whatever, so no need to read them immediately.

Only works on Chrome on the PC and Android Phones / Tablets though.

PIP and other annoyances ruin my day, ever trade they ring, can't cancel it cause I have 2 phones, it forwards call to the other, which rings then bounces back when not answered arrgggghhhh!!! ( lets me choose the phone to take out, 4.3" for general, 6.4" for trading )

You have to request a INBOX account, via the app, then WAIT and WAIT and WAIT keep trying it though, as I didn't see the e-mail saying I have it, likely went to my spam folder from google LOL

I keep sending them the $300 via International Western union, of course though I don't understand why they have so much trouble cashing it, always something wrong with the 24 digits I send them and then have to do another one, the two dice I use to get those numbers works well. LOL Hey, I am waiting for a trade, am bored.....

Yea, I have couple email accounts for signing up to crap, run out of people willing to show me how to take $20 bucks to several thousand and do it from the beach.

I wonder about the same thing.

  8. Best mail tool to control who sends you what... 33mail.com .. You can create new throwaway or permanent email addresses on the fly and you'll know who sent you what and you can shut it down at any time.

I set up folders and rules for things like broker activity statements, Groupons, viral cat memes, etc. and about once a month I glance at the folders and usually delete everything without ever opening them. :D

no wonder you never reply. So you never saw the picture of my cat holding a winning lottery ticket? I sent it to you like four times. Oh well, if that's the way you want it. From this day forward you are only going to get one email a week (for the rest of your life.)
