I rarely contact the help desk unless it is a life-and-death situation. I let other people contact the help desk. Then their lives will be shortened. Anyway, this Crowdstrike's small little as innocuous as changing a font update turned the whole world upside down.
StoneX/Gain is relying completely on Microsoft environment regarding their OMS, PMS and risk applications. Bloody stupid beyond belief! Their trade desk couldn´t even name client´s open positions as they have no back up facilities in a time critical and operations critical environment like futures trading. WTF? Are they serious? Their risk manager needs to be fired. That´s what he is paid for - to foresee the unforeseeable. Pointing to Microsoft or Crowdstrike is a BLOODY JOKE! No redundant systems in place? Where the PHUCK have these people been during REFCO and/or MF Global bankruptcies and PFG Best or FXCM?
Dude, this thing has taken down airlines, health care, and 911 call centers. Everyone is making the same mistake. And there is no easy solution. The app that caused this is baked into the architecture of many large networks. Most backup systems are somehow dependent on core elements of the network that cannot themselves be backed up. Certain parts of a system cannot function outside of the system itself. Backup and redundancy are part of a system, and that system cannot be protected from threats that come from within an update to the system itself.
