This thread is created to provide a place for those who trade futures to post and reflect on their own trading day as well as a place to generate ideas. You're well advised to follow a few simple rules regarding DOs and DON'Ts:

    1) Do post trades for the current day, the good, bad, and ugly.
    2) Do explain your rationale for making each trade entry and exit
    3) Do provide market analyses, be they your own personal insights or breaking news.
    4) Do post charts, whenever possible, for visual analysis.

    4) Don't post off-topic rubbish or nonsense.
    5) Don't get embroiled in flame wars: No personal attacks or inflammatory remarks are allowed.
    6) Don't preach how others should trade and refrain from condescension of any kind.

Credit to schizo for the thread format.

Had a stop limit waiting over night around half a point away from the close to catch any big move. My stop was at 46. When my stop isn't hit I close around 4pm EST which is what I did today. These trades have been working nicely lately as there hasn't been many sharp mid session reversals.

    Hi Swole15,

    I am new.
    Can i ask a question?
Why do you place your Stop @ 46 which is a 44 tick loss?

It was actually at 46.06. I always have my stop .5 away from my entry.

I was short going into the EIA report. Got stopped because of the sharp up-move but got back in and finished the day with a .35 gain.

My system gets killed on days like today. Got stopped around 9:30am EST and got back in an hour later. Got out of that second trade for a small loss for an overall daily loss of -.8. Still a successful day in my book since I followed my rules. Days like today happen once in a while, just gotta move on. Still have a great month going.

Flat day today. Slightly down week. +2.9 for the month so far. Hoping for some big moves next week.

Down day today. The reversal around noon went against me. Just have to stay the course. I know that with my system about half the trades will be losers and I am ok with that. Strings of bad days will happen and that is out of my control. All I can do is stick to my system and follow my rules.

So I ran my CL back-testing on RB futures and it is stronger. I know the slippage will be worst with RB but the additional edge should more than make up for it. I will be trading RB for now. I also refined my profit taking rule. Those two changes will be the last changes I make for 12 months.

Anyways good trade today. Got out when the Colonial pipeline news broke out around 10am EST.

Already done for the day. I was curious to see how bad the slippage would be during news and RB seems to be just fine. About the same as CL. Anyways got long last night around 6pm and moved my stop to 1.3550 after the EIA data. Got stopped almost immediately for a daily gain of 0.0094. Staying in cash until after the Fed announcement. I'm not a gambler.
