Futures and Options

  1. New to this area, looking for input from futures/options guys. I have plenty experience (12 years) but never as a trader. Only as a prop clerk at c.b.o.e. and a analyst in NY. for futures and options.
I want to pull the trigger on my own, and could use some help i.e. bd,system, clearing?, fees, etc...
    Thanks to all who respond,
    Matt:confused:

  2. A bit confused. On your resume is says that you are currently an independent trader. I'll PM some contacts in Chicago for you nonetheless that will be able to hook you up with everything.

  3. You have to be able to "forecast" the movement of the stock or ETF that underlies the future or option. If you dont know where the stock/ETF might go, you will quickly lose ALL your money with the leverage of options and futures.

The prop firm that you worked stays "always on", i.e. they dont sell and stay in cash before/during downturns? If so, AT MOST you will be able to barely beat the S&P 500 index.

Besides I think that it is illegal for you to replicate the stock picks of your prop firm.

As for clearing, fees, orders, etc, any reputable online broker will do it for you, like Interactivebrokers or Optionsxpress.
