Fundamentals (increasing sales, increasing earnings, "macro-theme") builds the watchlist. Technicals (breakouts on volume, consolidations, bases, pivots) determines buy points, stop losses, and take profits. See: William J. It’s not one or the other. If you want to trade a fundamental thesis then I’d advise you to look at the technical for market confirmation. Guess you could skip fundamentals, unless you have access to private, superior information but you shouldn’t skip technical analysis because we’re slave to the tape (Price action). They say the tape tells when It’s a timing tool, at least. Techincal trader might want to wait for a fundamental, news driven, event in order to capture the volatility and momentum from it. To answer your question: Trading fundamentals is interesting before it’s actually priced in. Trading technicals are used to navigate the market in between fundamental shocks once it’s being priced in and out.
%% FUNDAMENTALS are a great start+ they win in the end; applies to the stock-ETF market also market. Some technicals are misleading; C- citigroup is a penny stock split 10 times really $4.72[47.20today]I remember IBD founder did not like GE + C...................... Cash copper trades different from a lot of stuff+ our local laws tends to have a 5 day wait which ensures honesty. Some of the better fund managers may ignore technicals,in many cases I usually dont. Buying a business, people would rightly ignore a lot of technical stuff LOL Good question.
%% [T] TRUE; but good thing we have higher standards than needs. MOST every market is different; old Fed reserve notes, that are printed with the words pay .... in silver sell for a bunch [$29.95more]+ hard to find those .[EVEN though they may not pay in silver, any tried that today??LOL William o' Neil[won] had one company [IBD Newspaper] that he sold for $275,000,000 to NewsCorp . He has a real wise way of combinations fundamentals, funds + tech analysis; i prefer his books. Did not know 'till this week he had 12 companies BUT they have a lot of helpful free videos, with David ryan + other portfolio managers
Basically, only technical analysis is used in scalping or short-term trading. Fundamental analysis is used in long-term trading, but here too, when looking for market entries, you also need to know the technique.
