Since some of you have compared trading vs. starting a business... http://finance.yahoo.com/news/one-hedge-fund-managers-unexpected-170000331.html
let's notice the hedge-funder is a female. Cosmetics business is to a female similar to Luxury car business to a male.
Her last name did sound familiar. Maybe her husband is afraid his wife will blow aa significant part of their last hundreds of millions on vBeaute if it doesn't work out. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Julie_Macklowe http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harry_B._Macklowe
1) She got her MRS degree from UVA and married a rich guy. 2) She was never a finance, trader nor investment professional in any real sense. That's obviously apparent from her hedge fund departure within one year. 3) Her cosmetics "business" is a hobby. She wants to squander other people's money and not her own. That indicates some modicum of "business sense" on her part.
From my analyst class there were two girls who left the industry to start their own businesses and one guy. Young ambitious people with some money.... Its the logical next step for them.
