  1. Hello everybody.

Scanning is crutial for day trading, as we know.
As I am starting my path on this endevour, I do not want to go ahead and just spend a lot of money on those scanners in place.
Do you guys know of reliable free and acurate scanners available online for both pre-market and intraday control?

    Cheers

On the ET webpage, there is a search function.

you can search for the stock scanners.

ORATS scanners are not free but we offer a nice discount for ET.

Here is unusual call volume and other measurements as filters.
The stock scanner results can be sent to the options scanner.

just day trade futures...so few contracts no need to scan and you can get a better feel for the instruments playing them day in day out. No PDT rule, same day settlement vs T+2 for equities, Tax advantaged compared to equities, good leverage, magnificent.

This was the main reason why I too switched to futures. Scanning is such a pain in the ass.

This is just an idea for scanning.
    1. Free daily data(stock) are available from Yahoo Finance. But one need to have an apps like Ninja Trader or Amibroker to be able to scan the data. Having the ability to scan is no guarantee for success. Needs a lot of trial and error. Most importantly, one must know how to program the script.
    2. Finviz.com provides some basic screen for free. It used to be able to download into excel but it's only for paid customer.

    "Scanner" vs "Screener" (AFAIU)

"Screener" - works on past data to select stocks fitting certain criteria.
"Scanner" - works in real time on incoming market data to give you alerts immediately.

Screeners - there are a few free ones around. Like finviz.

Scanner - can be is either server side (like trade-ideas.com) or client side (like several trading software apps). Server side is NOT free (and by its nature less flexible). Client side requires a good data feed that can cover the simultaneous number of tickers you want to scan, and the software that is usually not free either. But is as flexible and versatile as the criteria you can think up.

Scanner are usually paid subscriptions. Trade ideas is the best one.

Unless, you mean screeners. I use finviz.
