Hi im wanting to open up with this broker called questrade and having a hard time understanding. IF ne1 could be so kind to help me that would be lifesaving thanks!!.. Sorry but im new to trading and just want to know all the facts beforehand.
What is your question? You make it sound like you want to open an account, yet what you attach are the policies of how much money you need in your account to buy or go short on stocks on margin. So where is your confusion? Is it with opening the account or wanting to know what margin is or understand these guidelines for margin requirements?
Newbie myself, but don't you think if you don't understand what those margin requirements mean, that it might be a bit early to open a brokerage account and trade real money?
no. ive been trading on demo account for awhile now. i just dont understand the jargon of this. i guess the fundamental grammar.
yes this is opening an account. what im asking is for the short it says 2.00 or more stock i would need atleast 150% of the total amount to short? so if the final price comes out to 100$ to short a 2$ stock i would need atleast in my account 150$?
yes, incase the stock moves against you. If you are shorting a $2 stock you need to have at least $3 in your account to be able to short that one share. It's a simple margin requirement
You are looking for "ne1" to help you? I haven't seen him here today, should be checking in over the weekend though. I'll let him know you're looking for him.
