Hi, I have traded stocks (9 yrs) and options (1 yr) fairly successfully. Although I don't trade fulltime yet, the intent (and unfortunately, the need) is to do so in 2010. I would consider myself more of a technicals trader...I like to keep it simple & for the most part, I have been successful with candlesticks, moving averages, macd, sto & on bal volume in my toolkit. The purpose of this post is seek advice on how I might move forward with Forex and Futures. On Forex, I've opened an account with FXCM and started paper-trading EUR/USD using the daily chart , but something tells me there's a lot more to forex trading than just the daily chart. On Futures, I'm clueless... on educators, good brokerages anything. If there are any successful forex and futures traders out here, I would appreciate your input on education and/or brokerages. If you've simply attended a course here or there, but are yet to convert that education into income, then I probably will save you the trouble of replying to this post. Thanks! SumoTrader
The purpose of this post is seek advice on how I might move forward with Forex and Futures. If you are fairly successful with stocks, then wandering into futures and forex is probably not a good idea. It makes sense for most traders to actually consider going in the other direction. And this seems to be the consensus of a number of people I have seen posting on ET. As to brokerages, that seems to be the cart. Deciding what to trade is the horse. FWIW, a lot of the people here trade on interactivebrokers. Suggest you go to the top of ET on the green strip, and click "Brokers". You can get some thoughts on what people have said about various brokers there.
