https://thehill.com/homenews/campai...-for-32000-felons-in-florida-so-they-can-vote Bloomberg pays fines for 32,000 felons in Florida so they can vote Billionaire Michael Bloomberg has reportedly raised more than $16 million in an effort to help convicted felons in Florida register to vote. The Florida Rights Restoration Coalition estimated Bloomberg's fundraising push has already paid off monetary obligations for 32,000 felons, Axios reported. Buttigieg stands in as Pence for Harris's debate practice Justice Ginsburg's death puts future of ObamaCare at risk "The right to vote is fundamental to our democracy and no American should be denied that right," a Bloomberg spokesperson told the news outlet. "Working together with the Florida Rights Restoration Coalition, we are determined to end disenfranchisement and the discrimination that has always driven it." Honestly tho, good job there Mike. I hope he's vetting them strategically and by district too.
Nah. If our justice system is truly fair felons would be granted their rights back when they get out. Unfortunately, it allows your constitutional rights be stripped as long as you have a "fair trial". Really quite a good strategy to buy votes. If Republicans were smart they'd do the same which would hopefully be the impetus to pass laws that do return constitutional rights to felons who have served their time to society. He's done nothing illegal, unfortunately. He hasn't coerced them and if they vote for Trump there's nothing he can do about it. But perhaps for once in his life accidentally done something consistent with the view that voting is the single most important thing an American can do. Moreover, this may work the opposite way he obviously wants. The Democrat party has a notorious "tough on crime" candidate leading it. Biden authored the bill that likely handed them down severe felony sentences for minor crimes (that baggie of weed, afterall). Its entirely possible these people, assuming they know who is running, won't vote Biden. If I was to assume I was a felon who got busted for a little too much weed, and Bloomberg paid so I could vote, I would probably know exactly what reptile made me eat ham sandwiches for 10 years and I would've had a lot of time to think about it. Interestingly enough this could change Biden's calculus and force him to welch on his tough on crime past to try to claim these votes. Now excuse me while I vomit for defending Bloomberg. What an interesting voting system we have.
Bloomberg could be vetting them for "likely democrat" vote for maximum effect. The Florida GOP is at fault here. The Florida electorate voted to restore felon voting rights last year in overwhelming numbers. DeCuntis decided to block the will of the people in a last minute move by imposing the restitution clause basically saying the punishment imposed by the courts wasn't enough to have paid their debt to society. Never mind the court that upheld the ruling were a bunch of garbage Trump appointments.
Let us start by rounding up and charging all foreign trolls on US soil. All of you need to be charged as it is a felony to interfere in US affairs. You ass clowns might not be aware of that fact, but, you guys are expendable. No political connections to protect your asses. Last I checked, the extreme liberals including, all the trolls were crying about Russian collusion while, the extreme liberal Democrats got their asses in Chinese collusion? Yeah, start with Joe and Hunter Biden, Obama and go down the line. Doesn't pass the stink test, not even close. All their financial dealings need to be investigated and corruption rooted out and exposed.
I don't know. Bloomberg has a pretty solid track record of just being tone deaf even though he is supposed to be a smart guy. He could have put everyone up in the hilton in Samoa for the rest of their life for what he paid for his only two delegates that he got in the country. So while, I could go a few rounds on whether his actions are legal or not, even if I were to accept that it is and should be legal - which I do not- I am not sure it will have his desired impact out in the real world. I could easily see him standing there at some point with people laughing at him for having paid off everyone's fines, but most never even bothered to vote. He tends to be big on the money spending, light on the smarts. Plus his actions do not have a good look to them so his little scheme is not without potential downside too. Whatever, he is kind of creepy. I don't consider him to worthy of a lot of analysis. There is a lot of entertainment value though in seeing video re-runs of all the other dem primary candidates- and I do mean all- trashing Bloomberg when he entered the race. All of them did repetitive little ditties about how races cannot be bought and how disgusting it is that a scumbag like Bloomberg can just waltz on to the stage and think he can buy a race. Now he is buying votes in Florida and they think that is fine.
I am sure the Florida Democratic party will mail to each of these 32,000 felons telling them due to the magnificence of a Democratic donor they are now able to vote... and give instructions on how to register and vote.
As I said long ago, the dems will eventually be resorting to some version of Acorn handing out free cigarettes to register to vote. The rest is history. It is just that they are doing it on steroids now.
