    Hi,

I have a question that I hope can be answered in as few words as possible.

I'm looking to get out of the CRT market and into an LCD setup.

What is the best 17" to 19" monitor currently being used by our professional traders?

I'm keeping one of my CRT's for viewing video as I have yet to find an LCD to that can keep up with quality of the CRT's video imaging. If anyone knows of any LCD that equals or betters CRT's in the video dept (as I know text and data and relatively the same for both) I would greatly appreciate it.

    Thanks to all,
    Jj.

  2. Everything depends on money of course.... Probably the best way to find out is to read one of those PC mags.... I use seven 17" Samsung 171s. Not the best, but does the job. I dont know how much this cocts since the firm provides me with it. I use 2 Matrox G200 MMS video card with 4 ports coming out of each.

  3. At our San Diego office we have 4 digital Flatscreens per trader using a MMS Quad Matrox video card.

The digital screens blow away analog....

CRT is out - go with flat and digital if you can afford it, your eyes will love you.

    We use Planar 19" flats.

  4. JWKIRKLAND,I READ IN SOME PC MAG THAT PLANAR LCDS DISPLAY A "SCREEN" EFFECT (GRID) IN THE BACKGROUND WHICH COULD BE DISTRACTING FOR DAYTRADING. DO YOU HAVE ANY COMMENTS ON THIS?...THE SPECS ON SAMSUNG 181T (18 INCH) LCD LOOK GOOD. ANYONE HAVE COMMENTS ON THIS NEW MODEL (COST ABOUT $950)?

  5. That would explain all the losing trades ..... just joking!

Nope, never seen that...or heard of it.

I really like these, thinking of buying one for my home.

  6. My mistake - these are 17" - just have the same space as a 19"CRT -

    Sorry

  7. JWKirkland, On the ECHOtrade website, it says you use 19"Trinitron flat screen monitors(CRTs). That appears to be what is in the photos as well. Have you recently changed your setup?
Just curious, in which office(city) were those pictures taken? I'd pull the photos of the empty chair with the monitors turned off, it doesn't inspire confidence:D

BTW- This is not an anti-ECHO post. If your using CRTs, Trinitrons
    are excellent-I was just curious

  8. Those were of the Phoenix office - I am in the San Diego office - not all the offices have same equipment - we just have brand new office - Boston is the same setup.

    Will have pictures posted soon.

  9. What a slick setup for multiple monitors. I have been pondering how to set up desk "real estate" for four to six monitors.

I have a taller version of this wire shelf being used in a kithchen pantry and it is a cheap and simple solution.

The shelves are adjustable in height by the inch. It could be set up in 10 minutes and a bottom shelf could be set up as a foot rest. Thanks for the great idea.
