She seems not to understand capitalism. These corporations want "gay" dollars, and they want to indicate that they are open to hiring and serving gay folks. One way to get someone to spend their money with you is to say "we are with you." These corporations know that most people are indifferent to the display of the Rainbow flag, nevertheless they obviously believe being supportive of the gay community is, on balance, good for their business. It doesn't seem more complicated than that. There is a liquor, wine and cheese shop withing easy walking distance of my home. I know the proprietors well -- a young family with a two year old and a new baby. They have a rainbow sticker on their shop door and a note that says, "if you're buying we're selling". This appears to be a business decision. I shop there because it's handy. Because, however, that sticker might say to a gay person, "there is no Candace in here", I can imagine that a gay person might go a little out of their way to shop there. Putting that sticker on the door seems like a good business decision to me. I am indifferent to both black history month and pride month, but I am happy for those who want to celebrate their particular causes, and I can understand why they might... Maybe eventually there will be so few Candaces in our world that there will be no more interest in these celebrations. That would be nice.
You know who else hates Pride Month... White-nationalist group members charged with planning riot at Idaho pride event https://www.reuters.com/world/us/me...h-planning-riot-idaho-pride-event-2022-06-12/
Like harami said in the other thread: "The headline should read "Feds in Costume Conduct Photo Op as Basis for Regime Propaganda Campaign"
Oh and if you watched the video, something like 89% of people feel uncomfortable with Pride Month including Black people who know their plight is nothing compared to the plight of Black people. Veterans only get one day a year. Imagine comparing the veterans to these Pride people.
