The tower project wasn't canceled. It was merely postponed. There was a stumbling block to be got over: The financing! The tower could not go through unless the sanctions were lifted. Trump could not influence the lifting of the sanctions unless he was President. Vladimir could not get his penthouse apartment unless Trump was President. Trump wanted the tower; thus to be President. Vladimir wanted his penthouse apartment; thus the tower. Trumped wanted to be President. Vladimir wanted Trump to be President. The rest will soon be history, as will Trump.
Don't think Putin cared about a stupid Penthouse as much as he cared about the sanctions. He can only rule his thugs if his thugs are kept happy and wealthy.
I completely agree. And I greatly exaggerated any interest Putin may have had in the penthouse that Donald threw in, probably unnecessarily, as inducement to get Putin firmly on board. Donald wanted the Tower. Putin Wanted the Sanctions lifted. Putin saw that he could use the tower project to get Trump to try and get the sanctions lifted. He was playing Trump. Therefore Putin wanted the tower, knowing it couldn't go through without the sanctions being lifted. It was-win. The only problem. How to get a fat old man with orange hair and a little dick elected. It is now coming clear to me that the Russian interference and Trump's obeisance to Putin and the Russians revolved around that Tower project. But from Putin's point of view, the Tower is just a way to get the sanctions lifted. Putin may have underestimated the extent that getting the sanctions lifted would require congressional cooperation. Nevertheless, if he could weaken the relationship between the U.S. and its NATO allies as a side benefit of helping to put Trump in the White House, then something worthwhile, from his point of view, is gained, even if Trump does not succeed at getting the Sanctions lifted.
